In a small frame near the window you can see the announcement of Goethe’s baptism in the Frankfurter Frag- und Anzeigungs-Nachrichten of 2 September 1749, as well as a handwritten note from the Biografisches Schema of 1808/09. There, in preparation for Poetry and Truth Goethe recorded the most important events of each year in catchwords. Under 1749 we find the entry: “geb. d. 28. August mit dem Schlage 12 Mittag” (born on 28 August at the stroke of noon).
