On the wall to the painting cabinet hang the portraits of the Fresenius couple. The Protestant clergyman Johann Philipp Fresenius arrived in Frankfurt in 1743, where he initially worked as the head minister at the Katharinenkirche. In 1748 he married Goethe’s parents, in 1749 he baptized Johann Wolfgang Goethe.
