The portraits in this room show Jakob Stock and his wife Esther, née Moritz. Her father was a business friend of the Goethe family and her uncle and his family occupied the bel étage in 1762 after Thoranc moved out, preventing further quarterings. In her later years Goethe’s mother took her midday meal each Sunday with the Stock family.
