Physics as art
In this letter, Ritter offers the publisher Johann Georg Zimmer a selection of aphorisms about the arts and sciences. According to Ritter, they filled the gap between the fragments of Novalis and those of Georg Christoph Lichtenberg. On the last page, Ritter considers various titles (“Magnetisms”, “Tourmalines”). The book appeared shortly after Ritter’s death in 1810, bearing the title he finally chose: Fragments from the Papers of a Young Physicist.
